On June 30th, the 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant of Guangdong Petrochemical Refining & Chemical Integration Project (referred to as Guangdong Petrochemical Project) was completed and handed over, and it entered the crucial stage of commissioning.

Guangdong Petrochemical Project is the largest one-time investment project of PetroChina during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, which is of great significance for ensuring national energy security and realizing the transformation and upgrading of refining and chemical industry.


The 200,000 ton/year ethylene plant is the "leading" plant in the chemical industry zone, mainly producing ethylene, propylene and other products, as well as by-products such as hydrogen, methane-rich gas, cracked C4, cracked gasoline and fuel oil.


The unit is contracted by EPC of China Huanqiu Engineering Co., Ltd., jointly executed by Huanqiu Beijing Company and Huanqiu Sixth Construction Company, and adopts the complete set of patented ethylene technology independently developed by Huanqiu Company. Huanqiu Company has designed and built a single liquid cracking furnace with the largest production capacity in China at present, and applied the domestic cracking gas compressor with the largest power, thus opening up the whole process of "six transformations" in the field of refining and chemical engineering for the first time.


The integration management runs out of the "acceleration" of project construction. In order to promote the construction progress efficiently, the Chemical Production Department of Guangdong Petrochemical Company strengthened its service awareness, optimized the construction organization, set up node rewards, and stimulated the enthusiasm of all the construction participants. Huanqiu Company set up a general project department in Guangdong Petrochemical Project to coordinate and give full play to the advantages of "general-branch" management, EPC overall planning and general contracting management, so as to realize the integrated allocation of resources. Huanqiu Beijing Company and Huanqiu No.6 Construction Company set up a joint management team, fully practicing the concept of "one family, one heart, one game". The three links of design, procurement and construction are highly integrated, deeply crossed and seamlessly connected, thus improving the speed and efficiency of project construction with the mode of coordination and linkage.


"Six-oriented" model to create a "booster" for project construction. The joint project management team practiced the concept of "six transformations", realized the collaborative design of digital delivery through in-depth standardized design, and provided technical support for factory prefabrication and modular construction. In the construction stage, the project team achieved a new speed of completing 16 cranes in the radiation section of the cracking furnace in 88 days, and capping the main structure of the cracking furnace in 13 months by means of pre-process and process innovation. At the same time, the pilot of digital delivery and modular design was carried out in gasoline hydrogenation unit for the first time, and the whole process of modular design, manufacturing, transportation and installation of large-scale process units was opened. All towers adopt the integral hoisting mode, and the thousand-ton quench twin towers are manufactured in 146 days, and hoisted in 3 days, so that "the tower lights up" is realized.


"Red Engine" condenses the struggle power. Huanqiu Company set up the Party Working Committee of the General Project Department in Guangdong Petrochemical Project, playing the role of "taking the direction, managing the overall situation and promoting the implementation", relying on the party group, party member demonstration posts, party member responsibility areas and youth demonstration posts to tackle urgent and dangerous tasks and focus on solving various key technical problems on site. It is difficult and demanding to install the "heart" of ethylene plant-"three units". The party branch took the lead in setting up a QC team, flushing the temporary filter screen with oil from large compressor units, quickly replacing devices and other minor innovations, inventions and modifications, solving construction problems and escorting the installation of the largest unit in China.
