Butadiene Rubber (BR), also known as polybutadiene, is a synthetic rubber that is highly valued for its excellent wear resistance, elasticity, and ability to absorb impact. BR is produced through the polymerization of butadiene, a process that results in a material with high flexibility and low glass transition temperature, allowing it to remain pliable even at low temperatures. These properties make BR an ideal material for applications that require high durability and resilience. One of the most common uses of BR is in the automotive industry, where it is used in the production of tires, particularly in the tread and sidewalls, to enhance wear resistance and improve the tire's ability to absorb shocks from road irregularities. BR is also used in the manufacturing of conveyor belts, golf balls, and footwear soles, where its impact resistance and durability are essential. In addition, BR is used as a modifier to improve the properties of other rubbers and plastics, such as styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR). The material’s ability to resist wear and maintain flexibility over a wide temperature range makes it suitable for use in various demanding applications. However, BR has relatively poor resistance to oils, solvents, and ozone, and it can degrade over time when exposed to these elements.
