Compound antioxidants tackle key problems successfully!

On February 27th, a research team composed of Guangxi Petrochemical Company, Petrochemical Research Institute and South China Chemical Sales Company completed a visit to the downstream manufacturers in South China. Through on-the-spot investigation, the L5D98C produced by Guangxi Petrochemical Company using domestic compound antioxidant is equivalent to the L5D98C produced by imported compound antioxidant in raw material detection, processing and application, product quality, etc., which marks the initial success of Guangxi Petrochemical Company's localization of polypropylene compound antioxidant.

The functional BOPP products L5D98C and L5D98D, which are efficient products in the polypropylene plant of Guangxi Petrochemical Company, have been using imported compound antioxidants for a long time, but they face difficulties such as high purchasing unit price and long supply cycle. In order to break through the "bottleneck" technology of foreign suppliers, realize the localization of compound antioxidants, further reduce production costs, and enhance the market competitiveness of the plant, Guangxi Petrochemical has continued to tackle the key problem of localization of polypropylene compound antioxidants since 2021. In 2023, after communicating with nine first-class suppliers of compound antioxidants in China Petroleum and investigating a number of petrochemical enterprises, the technical barrier of imported compound antioxidants was finally broken through the mechanism research, analogy analysis and induction of antioxidants.

After bidding and purchasing, production scheme preparation and material preparation, from January 25th to 27th, a total of 2,000 tons of L5D98C was produced in polypropylene plant using domestic compound antioxidant, and the product quality was all qualified. Feedback from downstream customers shows that the performance of L5D98C produced with domestic compound antioxidant is basically the same as that of L5D98C produced with imported compound antioxidant.

Replacing with domestic compound antioxidant can reduce the cost of "three doses" by 1.8 million yuan per year. Guangxi Petrochemical will continue to carry out the localization of compound antioxidants, and at the same time carry out the trial work of compound antioxidants from different domestic suppliers to further reduce production costs.
