On November 26th, the reporter learned from China Petrochemical Research Institute that the metallocene catalyst PME-18 independently developed by China Petroleum successfully completed its long-term industrial application, and it has been running stably for more than 190 hours in the 300,000-ton/year full-density polyethylene plant of Lanzhou Petrochemical Company, producing nearly 7,200 tons of metallocene polyethylene film special material mPE1018, with the product qualification rate reaching 100%. This indicates that the metallocene catalyst PME-18 can be mass-produced, which will strongly promote the high-quality development of China Petroleum's high-end polyolefin business.
Metallocene polyethylene has excellent performance, and its production technology level is an important symbol to measure the development level of polyolefin industry in a country. Preparation of catalyst is the core technology for producing metallocene polyethylene. In this regard, the Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology focused on high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and developed metallocene catalyst PME-18, which greatly reduced the cost and achieved the same use effect as foreign catalysts.
In view of the high requirements of the existing metallocene polyethylene production equipment for catalyst polymerization activity, polymer fine powder content and reactor electrostatic control ability, the research team has successively solved the technical problems such as the difficulty in increasing the load of catalyst active components, uneven distribution of active centers, poor separation effect of homogeneous components, etc., developed the engineering scale-up preparation technology of metallocene catalysts, completed the ton-level production task of catalysts, and firmly grasped the key core technologies in their own hands. The success of this industrial application will accelerate the popularization and application of China's independent catalysts.
