Jilin Petrochemical High-density Polyethylene Plant successfully converted to high-end pipe materials.

As of November 17th, the newly-built 400,000-ton/year high-density polyethylene plant in the transformation and upgrading project of Jilin Petrochemical Ethylene Plant has been transformed into a new product of "Sanfeng" pipe material PE-HD5023P for the first time, with a total of nearly 30,000 tons. As new products are rolled off the assembly line and put on the market, the high-density polyethylene device has once again achieved a milestone breakthrough in the research and development and production of high-end and differentiated products, which has injected a strong impetus into the company's further expansion of the market for high value-added products and enhancement of its core competitiveness.

PE-HD5023P is one of the top products in the field of polyethylene pipes at present. With the accurately designed molecular chain structure, this product has high strength and excellent stress cracking resistance, as well as excellent long-term hydrostatic strength, excellent slow crack growth resistance and good processability. It is especially suitable for municipal water supply and drainage, gas transportation, industrial pipe network and large-scale infrastructure with high pressure requirements, and its service life can reach decades or even hundreds of years. It is an upgraded substitute product for traditional pipes.

From the conversion of membrane materials to pipe materials with high requirements for long-term durability and pressure resistance, it poses great challenges to the process control of the device, the application of catalyst system and the adjustment of process parameters. In the early stage of production conversion, Jilin Petrochemical Ethylene Plant cooperated with many disciplines such as process, equipment and safety to jointly formulate the production conversion plan and organize deduction, and completed the preparation for the switch of catalyst and compound additives in advance. During the production process, technicians are stationed at the site, and the process flow is switched throughout, so as to accurately ensure the smooth transition of the reactor working conditions and ensure that all indicators of the products meet the standards.

The successful conversion from membrane material to "Sanfeng" pipe material has accumulated valuable experience for developing more "specialized and innovative" products in the future, which has enriched the matrix of high-density polyethylene products in Jilin Petrochemical Company and significantly increased the proportion of high-end products.
