New Polyethylene Products Fill the Oil Blank in China!

On December 3rd, the reporter learned that the polyolefin department of Daqing Petrochemical Company successfully completed the first industrial production task of new ternary copolymer polyethylene products, with a total production of about 110 tons, which marked that Daqing Petrochemical Company became the first enterprise in China Petroleum Company to produce polyethylene by using octene to participate in the gas-phase fluidized bed process.

The metallocene medium density polyethylene resin mPE-MD3625P produced this time has the advantages of good mechanical properties, outstanding processability and suitability for high-speed extrusion, and can be mainly used in the production of geothermal pipes and the transportation of cold and hot water. Metallocene low-density polyethylene resin mPE-LLD2309F is mainly used to produce membrane products. Compared with other similar products, the mechanical indexes such as tensile yield stress and impact strength are better than those of competitors under the same film thickness.

In 2023, the Polyolefin Department of Daqing Petrochemical Company actively promoted the preparation for the development and production of terpolymer polyethylene products, and successively completed the renovation of catalyst feeding system and the addition of 1- octene refining system, which provided the necessary conditions for the production of new products.

The trial production of ternary copolymer products using 1- octene as comonomer has many uncertainties in the production process, which may lead to abnormal situations such as high static electricity and flake formation. Therefore, the Polyolefin Department of Daqing Petrochemical Company organized several special meetings before scheduling, fully analyzed the product characteristics, production risks and operational difficulties, and listed detailed retreat conditions, precautions and treatment measures to ensure adequate preparation and proper response.

During the production process, technicians keep an eye on the site for 24 hours, adjust the production parameters in time according to the changes of temperature and pressure, and strictly control the addition of 1- octene throughout the process. The post staff samples powder every half hour and granular materials every hour to check the appearance, viscosity and smell of products, and grasp the quality of products at the first time to ensure that problems are found and handled in time. Especially during the conversion of new products, technicians and post operators pay close attention to the reaction state after catalyst injection, and deal with any abnormality immediately, thus realizing safe and stable production.
