Guangxi Petrochemical Ethylene Project was successfully put into production.

On October 30th, Guangxi Petrochemical Ethylene Project, a major project in the planning and layout of the national petrochemical industry and a key project of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the group company, was successfully put into operation in Qinzhou Port, Guangxi, and the first batch of chemical products were qualified and shipped. It is at the key node of the "14th Five-Year Plan", which not only marks the completion and commissioning of the largest million-ton ethylene project in southwest China, but also injects strong kinetic energy into the high-quality development road of China's petrochemical industry to get rid of "scale dependence" and move towards "quality breakthrough".

The total investment of the project exceeds 30 billion yuan. From the start of construction in July 2023 to the handover in July 2025, it has set a number of industry records in two years. Among them, the world's largest diesel adsorption and separation device applies the concept of "molecular engineering", which improves the utilization efficiency of raw materials by more than 15% compared with the traditional process, effectively solving the structural contradiction of "more oil but less" in China's petrochemical industry; The first 80,000-ton/year SBS and 120,000-ton/year functionalized solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber plant owned by China Petroleum was built, and the world's first largest dual-frequency inverter undisturbed switching motor was adopted for the ethylene refrigeration compressor. A series of achievements of "the first in the world" and "the first set in China" are concentrated, which marks the further maturity of China's independent technology system in the petrochemical field and lays a solid foundation for the localization of high-end chemical equipment during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period.

As the first benchmark project of refining-chemical integration in the group company, Guangxi Petrochemical Ethylene Project has built 14 sets of chemical plants, 2 sets of refining plants and public auxiliary facilities with 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant as the core. After putting into production, 3.49 million tons of oil products can be produced less and 3.06 million tons of chemicals can be produced more each year. The products such as high-end polyolefin, functionalized rubber, high-end film material and pipe material will fill the domestic supply gap. At the same time, 100% green electricity guarantee is achieved by adding electricity to the project, and the energy consumption index of the device is better than the national standard benchmark level, thus building a circular chain of "resources-products-green applications" to help China's "double carbon" goal advance steadily.

From the perspective of regional development, the project promotes the transformation of Guangxi's industrial structure from basic chemical industry to high-end chemical new material industry. Relying on the new land and sea channel in the west, the products can radiate to the markets of Southwest China, South China and ASEAN, and help build a trillion-level green chemical new material industry cluster facing ASEAN. By promoting the development of downstream packaging, building materials, automobiles and other industries, we will form an industrial ecology of "leading and cluster development", break through the dilemma of "low supply" of high-end chemical raw materials in Southwest China, and expand overseas markets with the help of the dividend of RCEP, which will provide important support for building a new development pattern of mutual promotion of domestic and international double cycles.
