On November 28th, 120,000 tons/year solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) and 80,000 tons/year styrene-butadiene-styrene thermoplastic elastomer (SBS) units in the petrochemical integration transformation and upgrading project of Guangxi Petrochemical Company started construction. Up to now, 57 of the 83 major projects in the transformation and upgrading project of refining and chemical integration in Guangxi Petrochemical Company have been started, and the operating rate has reached 68.7%.

The products of 120,000 tons/year solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) plant are mainly solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber and a small amount of low cis polybutadiene rubber, which are used for all-season tires, winter tires, ultra-high performance tires and ultra-low rolling resistance tires. EPC general contracting is implemented by the consortium composed of Lanzhou Huanqiu and CNPC Seventh Construction Company, and it is planned to be delivered in June 2025; After putting into production, we can give full play to the advantages of low inventory cost, short transportation time and quick market response, and cultivate and build a new SSBR development core area and industrial cluster area of China Petroleum.

The 80,000t/a styrene-butadiene-styrene thermoplastic elastomer (SBS) plant adopts the technology jointly developed by Xinjiang Huanqiu Company and Dushanzi Petrochemical Company. According to the end use and product range, this technology can produce SBS products with different compositions and structures, which can meet the needs of downstream asphalt modification, polymer modification, adhesives and so on. The unit can also produce styrene-isoprene block copolymer (SIS) through local modification, and reserve the function of expanding the production of hydrogenation product SEBS. The device is of great significance to enrich the types of petrochemical products in Guangxi and improve the market competitiveness. It is planned to be delivered in June 2025.
