On November 6th, the reporter learned from Dushanzi Petrochemical Company that the domestic catalyst was used to produce metallocene polyethylene mHD3702 products in the condensed state for the first time in the 22 nd line of the company's polyethylene plant, which broke the dependence on imported catalysts in the past and realized the independent development of a full range of metallocene polyethylene products with domestic catalysts. Dushi Petrochemical has also become the first enterprise in China to successfully produce metallocene polyethylene mHD3702 products by using domestic catalysts in a condensed state.

Metallocene polyethylene products have excellent properties, and are known as "soft gold" in plastics. They are "hot items" in the high-end polyolefin market, and are also an important development direction of import substitution of new resin materials in China. In recent years, with the improvement of the overall level of domestic chemical industry, some large domestic chemical enterprises have the ability to produce metallocene polyethylene using imported catalysts. However, the long-term development of the enterprise is limited by the high price of imported catalysts and the failure to master the core technology of production.

In order to fully master the "palace-level" technology of producing metallocene polyethylene products in the chemical industry and fill the domestic gap, Dushi Petrochemical began research and development in 2015. After unremitting efforts, in December 2022, qualified metallocene polyethylene products were successfully produced by using chromium powder as seed bed and domestic catalyst, becoming the first enterprise in China to realize large-scale, serial and stable production of metallocene polyethylene film special materials.

On may 23 this year, the first round of domestic catalyst metallocene conversion in Sinopec officially began. Eleven days later, Sinopec produced more than 3,000 tons of metallocene polyethylene product mLL1018, and then the metallocene products mLL2010 and mHD3702 were successfully converted. After sampling inspection, all the products are qualified.

At present, Dushi Petrochemical is the only enterprise in China that has realized the serial production of metallocene polyethylene film special materials, breaking the monopoly of foreign high-end imported products and realizing the substitution of raw materials. The sales of products such as HPR1018HA and EZP2010HA rank first in China. The products have excellent mechanical and optical properties, and are mainly used to produce FFS films, food packaging films, shed films, heat shrinkable film and so on.
