On the morning of July 29th, the groundbreaking ceremony of 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant of China Petroleum Guangxi Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Integration Transformation and Upgrading Project was held at the site of Guangxi Petrochemical Ethylene Plant Project, marking the full opening of the main plant construction of this project.

The transformation and upgrading project of refining-chemical integration of Guangxi Petrochemical Company is the key project of China Petroleum during the Tenth Five-Year Plan, and it is also the key project to build a new land-sea passage in the west and participate in the international competition of RCEP. After the project is put into production, it will further increase the intensity of "reducing oil and increasing oil" and significantly enhance the competitive advantages of featured, high-end and differentiated product clusters and markets, which is of great significance for improving the local industrial structure, boosting the regional economic development and transforming and upgrading the oil refining business in China.

The ethylene plant that started construction this time is the core device of the refining and chemical integration transformation and upgrading project of China Petroleum and Guangxi Petrochemical Company. The plant was contracted by EPC of Global Company, and the largest single cracking furnace with a capacity of 200,000 tons/year was built in China by using the innovative achievements of "Key Technology Upgrade and Industrial Application of Large Ethylene" independently developed by Global Company. The main products include polymer-grade ethylene, polymer-grade propylene, hydrogenated gasoline and styrene. At the same time, by-products such as hydrogen, mixed C4, cracked C5, cracked C9 and cracked fuel oil have achieved remarkable results.

As an important organic raw material, the demand for ethylene keeps growing rapidly. The construction of this ethylene plant will help Guangxi Petrochemical to open up the high-quality product line of polyolefin industry chain, and will form a production system with high efficiency and complementary supply of raw materials with Guangdong Petrochemical and other enterprises, which will effectively fill the market gap of polyolefin products in South China and Southwest China.
